During the 40-hour mammography training, you need to perform at least 25 mammograms under the supervision of a qualified radiologist or technologist. These examinations should be recorded and must include the exam date, facility name, and the name of the supervising technologist.
MQSA EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT FOR MAMMOGRAPHIC EXAMINATIONS
To satisfy MQSA Initial Training requirements in Mammography the candidate must perform 25 SUPERVISED mammograms (screening and/or diagnostic).
All examinations must be performed on patients (not phantoms or simulated patients).

Except for the State of California, you may complete these MQSA 25 supervised mammograms before taking the ARRT mammography boards. These mammographic examinations count for 12.5 hours of the required 40 hours, leaving you with 27.5 hours to complete the entire mammography training. Make sure to keep your records as proof of MQSA compliance to get your mammography certification.
